Named for and founded by William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody in 1895, the town of Cody, Wyoming is home to just under 10,000 people. Buffalo Bill opened the Irma Hotel at this intersection to serve tourists on their way to the East Entrance of Yellowstone National Park. Cody today continues to serve tourists heading to Yellowstone with its many shops and restaurants along Sheridan Avenue in the central business district.
