Old Man's Cave is named for a recess cave inhabited by hermit Richard Rowe, who arrived in Ohio in the 1790s and lived out his life here in this gorge. It is now the most popular hiking destination in Hocking Hills State Park and one of the top destinations in Ohio. The bridge over the Upper Falls marks the beginning of the Grandma Gatewood Trail, which extends the entire length of the gorge and beyond to Cedar Falls and Ash Cave.
