The ruins of soviet missile base near village Yakushyntsi, Vinnytsia region, Ukraine. December, 2014. Base represented silo-launch complex of 4 silos and was division of 60th regiment that was part of 43rd Rocket Army of USSR. Each silo was armed by the R-12U ballistic missile also known as SS-4 Sandal. R-12U was a theatre ballistic missile developed and deployed by the Soviet Union during the Cold War. The R-12 rocket provided the capability to attack targets at medium ranges with a megaton-class thermonuclear warhead. Missiles of this object were aimed at Western Europe's targets. Cities and defense facilities. The silo complex was totally destroyed in summer 2013. You can find some photos at hotspots that show how silos looked before demolition. The most of static photos are not mine and were taken from open sources. But they really cover this place.

11/07/2015Nick Hobgood: Thank you, Nick. It's just a pity, that I bought my Canon 60D after the demolition of the base. When I was there in 1993 there were a lot of massive objects that could impress anyone. Just one real fact: the cost of building this object was more than 1 billion USD
